Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested 14 people, including three serving police officers and foreign nationals, during a raid on a warehouse in Nairobi’s Vision Plaza Industrial Area. The operation, carried out on October 1, 2026, followed a complaint filed by US national Alkhalifi Ibrahim Hassan at the JKIA Police Station.

According to the DCI, officers searched a warehouse located behind Vision Plaza and discovered 31 sealed black pallets. Three of the pallets reportedly contained 156 bundles of US$100 notes suspected to be counterfeit, while the remaining pallets contained cement.

Detectives also found a plastic box containing 65 gold bars suspected to be fake, alongside chemicals believed to have been intended for the manufacture of counterfeit currency and papers bearing printed US dollar notes. A black bag recovered at the premises contained 13 more bundles of suspected counterfeit US$100 notes. Investigators also seized aluminium seals, seven cartons of UN blue plastic seals, two Kenya Revenue Authority reflector jackets and two empty suitcases. Other items recovered included a pallet-strapping roll, a padlock cutter and a hacksaw.

The three police officers arrested during the operation were identified as Corporal Joseph Otenyo Okimba, Administration Police Constable Douglas O. Odira and Administration Police Constable Felix Oyawa Odhiambo. They are attached to the Security of Government Buildings unit at Uhuru Camp.

The other suspects include Kenyan nationals as well as citizens of Nigeria, Cameroon and Sudan. The DCI identified the foreign suspects as Nigerian national Anthony Oyieka Namani, Cameroonian national Soulemanou and Sudanese national Abbas Ibrahim Mohamed. Other suspects are George Kinyanjui, Geofrey Omondi Juma, William Kimolo, Solomon Ndeda, Raphael Wayaya, Kevin Barasa, Erick Honla and Maureen Ogany.

Police said two of the arrested officers were carrying Beretta pistols, while another suspect allegedly had a Chalbi pistol. Detectives processed the scene and secured the recovered items as investigations continue to establish how the suspected counterfeit currency operation was being conducted and the alleged roles of each suspect.

The 14 suspects remain in police custody as investigators complete their inquiry. The DCI says further legal action will be taken once the investigations are concluded.
