The much anticipated cricket Kenya elections that were slated for next week Tuesday have now been halted after the high court issued orders barring them from proceeding with the elections.

The tribunal has further barred them from conducting any Annual General Meeting (AGM) or related meetings, or initiating any disciplinary proceedings against embattled treasurer Kalpesh Solanki.

In the case, Solanki has challenged his impeding ouster from office.

Through lawyer Danstan Omari, he had argued that he stands to suffer irreparable harm , including removal from office if the AGM proceeds with deliberations on his suspension and removal.

The tribunal says the orders issued will remain in effect pending the determination of the substantive suit scheduled for delivery on the May 6 2025.

According to Solanki, he filed a case challenging his suspension as Treasurer and the matter was fully heard and is scheduled for a judgement on May 6 which was coincidentally the same day as the election date.

He claimed that the board decided to schedule another date for the AGM in a bid to beat the court judgement judgement

The board had rescheduled the annual general meeting to tomorrow at the cricket Kenya offices ,Ruaraka sports Club where elections would have been held.

“That the respondent continues action despite knowledge of the pending proceedings ,constitute an attempt to pre empty the tribunal decision and render the judgement of 6th of May,” they argued.
