The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has been summoned to personally appear in court on January 27 to explain what happened to the abducted Kenyans.
Kanja and the DCI boss Mohammed Amin were both expected to appear in court today but they skipped the session saying they were held up in National
Security matters.
However, Justice Bahati Mwamuye ordered Kanja to appear on that day saying that if Kanja fail to appear in Court, he risks being cited for contempt of Court.
Justice Mwamuye said that he would have proceeded to convict the IG for contempt of Court but opted to give him a last chance to appear in Court.
“I will give the IG a last chance to appear before this court before I opt for the first option and invite him for mitigation before sentencing,” Said Justice Mwamuye.
So far IG maintained that the National Police Service (NPS) was not privy to the abductions and that national security was not involved.
