In today’s court news, Ebel Ochieng, one of the primary suspects in the alleged assassination plot against Kasipul Constituency MP Hon. Were, has filed a formal request asking that Magistrate Gichobi of the JKIA Law Courts recuse herself from presiding over the case.

Through his legal counsel, Danstan Omari, Ochieng claims that Magistrate Gichobi has exhibited bias, making it difficult for him to have confidence in her impartiality. He is requesting that a different judicial officer be appointed to handle the matter.

Ochieng further expressed concern over the tone and language used in the magistrate’s ruling, stating that it appeared as though the court was personally defending itself. According to him, the wording and tone of the ruling left him deeply unsettled.

As a result, he is urging the magistrate to down her tools and allow another judicial officer to take over the proceedings.
