Two officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kipkelion, Kericho County, have been arrested over an alleged Sh500,000 bribe to have a murder case dropped.
The two officers, Corporals Wesley Korir and Christopher Maina, were arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following allegations that they demanded the money from a complainant in exchange for terminating the murder case against him.
EACC detectives mounted an operation after receiving information about the alleged bribery. The officers were arrested on Thursday while allegedly receiving Sh120,000, which the commission said was part of the Sh500,000 they had demanded.
The two were subsequently taken to the EACC South Rift Regional Office for processing and were later released on Sh30,000 cash bail as investigations continue.
The commission said the case remains under investigation and urged members of the public to report suspected bribery and other corrupt conduct through its official reporting channels.
