Magistrate Martha Nanzushi released each of them on a Sh 200,000 personal bond meaning they will only sign but not pay any money as an undertaking.

Among the prisoners who escaped include Kware killings murder suspect Collins Jumaisi who was remanded there by the court.

In her ruling, Nanzushi said there were no compelling reasons to warrant the 14 days detention sought by the DCI.

The court released them on bond and directed them to be reporting to DCI twice a week.

In their application, the police had told the court that investigations against the officers were not complete and they needed two weeks to allow them complete the investigations.

The investigating officer told court that Babo was the duty NCO, Kipkirui was the Cell Sentry, Achieng and Nyabuto were the station guards while Mutuku was the report officer personnel.

“The investigations in the matter are not yet complete, the respondents’ mobile phones have been presented to cyber-crime unit based at DCI HQ for forensic lab for further analysis,” the court heard.

The police further said that there are other accomplices who are still at large and the five police officers have indicated their willingness to lead to their arrests.
