The court on Monday adjourned the sentencing of police officer and four others who were found guilty for robbery with violence.

Chief Magistrate Benard Ochoi adjourned the sentencing to Thursday this week when they will know their sentences.

Corporal George Onyango Mtere who was an officer at Ruiru Police station was convicted in January alongside Benard Okech with the offense of robbery with violence.

The court also convicted three employees working at Mistsumi Business Park namely Albert Oketch Ochola who is the plumber at the building, Wycliffe Marani who is the electrician and Walter Kiverenge Indimali who is the caretaker and supervisor at the building for organizing the robbery

According to court, Mtere and his co-accused on December 7, 2020, at Mitsumi Business Park Computer Garage in Westlands, while armed with a gun robbed Daksha Patel, a cashier at the Computer Garage $150,000 (Sh15 million).

“I find that the prosecution has established their case against officers Onyango and Ogutu beyond reasonable doubt and accordingly find them guilty of the offence of robbery with violence and convict them under section 215 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC),” Ruled the Magistrate.

In his judgement, Ochoi said that the victim of the robbery, Daksha Patel, an employee of Mitsumi Computer Garage based at Mitsumi Business Park, positively identified Onyango and his accomplice Ogutu as the robbers of her handbag.

In her testimony, Patel said the accused persons robbed her at gunpoint inside a lift as she left the building.
