Outgoing Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) President, Justice Stephen Radido, has called on the newly elected council members to honor their promises and serve the association with dedication, teamwork, and transparency.

Speaking during the KMJA Annual General Conference held at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi, Justice Radido reminded the incoming officials that campaign promises cease to be personal once elected.

“You all know the promises you made individually during the campaigns. Some of these promises have been made before, some were new, some were out of Disneyland and I hope all of us know what happens in Disneyland,” he said, drawing laughter from attendees.

Justice Radido emphasized the importance of collaboration in realizing the association’s vision.

“To realise these individual promises, new council members, you must convince the full council to walk the talk with you,” he urged.

He acknowledged that leadership comes with challenges, urging the council to remain steadfast and consistent in attending meetings even when discussions grow heated.

“Membership of the council is a sacrifice. Always make time to attend council meetings, even when hotly debated and controversial agendas are on the table,” he advised.

The outgoing KMJA president further cautioned the new officials to uphold transparency, particularly in managing the association’s finances. He reminded members that the monthly subscription had been increased from KSh 700 to KSh 1,000, with an additional KSh 1,000 contribution to the benevolent fund.

Justice Radido concluded by thanking the outgoing council for their service and encouraging the new leadership to embody honesty, unity, and accountability in their tenure.
