A Nairobi court on Monday allowed the police to hold five persons who are suspected to be behind the disappearance of a man from a circumcision party in November last year.

Police have alleged that the five are suspected to be connected to the mysterious disappearance of Ephantus Ngari Nyaga on the night of November 11, 2023 in Imara Daima.

The five are Fredrick Ireri Bunji, Annah Njoki Kithu, William Waka, Salim Ndeti, and Alice Wanjiru Githinji.

According to the police, Bunji and Njoki were attending a Circumcision ceremony party which was held within Imara Daima in Nairobi with Nyaga who has been missing.

The court heard that the two were the last people to be seen with Nyaga before he disappeared at around 11 pm on that day and has not been found to date.

It is alleged that Nyaga’s phone went off immediately the other relatives left the house where they were holding the party.

Police now claim that they have established that Nyaga’s IMEI numbers had been paired to telephone contact numbers belonging to both Waka and Ndeti a few days after he went missing.

When police arrested Ndeti, he admitted and led the investigators to the residential house of Alice Wanjiru Githinji within Imara Daima area where she was found in possession of the said exhibit phone.

Wanjiru has claimed that she bought the phone belonging to Nyaga the missing person from Waka.

The court allowed the suspects to be detained until January 15 to give time to police to conclude investigations.
