An LSK employee testified in court on Monday how they found out that two people with the names Brian Mwenda shared the same admission number which is unheard of in the society.

Vivian a program officer at LSK told Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina that it was after one of the lawyers contacted them to access his account that they realized the anomaly.

She was testifying in the case where Brian Mwenda Njagi has been charged with impersonating Lawyer Brian Mwenda Ndwiga.

She told court that Advocate Brian Mwenda Ndwiga wrote to LSK seeking assistance as he was unable to access his online portal saying he was having difficulties accessing his account.

She requested him to give us his email address and he gave us the email which I used to update his information.

However she found that there was a different email on the system and told him that I had updated the new email.

“Few minutes later the lawyer told us that the account he had accessed is unrecognizable. He said they share an admission number with another advocate by the name Brian Mwenda,” she said,

Vivian said she did a search to find out who the other Brian Mwenda is and as she was doing the search, she found out that advocates cannot share an admission number because it’s unique saying they can’t share a PC number.

“I wrote back to him and told him the accounts are different and he said the bio data details of the said account were not his except for the admission number,” the court heard.

Vivian said Ndwiga also pointed out that they seem to share an admission number with someone else.

“He provided his correct bio data details including his ID, email phone number and admission number. He said he does not work under the firm that was indicated on that account,” she said.

At this point the issue appeared strange to her so she escalated the it to ICT for guidance on how to proceed.

One thing I noted was that the PC for Brian Mwenda Ndwiga had been paid for.

Inthe case Brian Mwenda Njagi has been charged with making a fake certificate for admission to practice law as an Advocate.

Mwenda has denied six counts of making a false document, uttering a false document and identity theft.
