Wetangula Sued for Refusing to Settle Ksh 298,000 Debt for Dog Supply and Training

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has been taken to court over a Ksh 298,000 debt he owes for the supply and training of two German Shepherd dogs. The debt has reportedly remained unpaid for over three years.

Isoka Bethwel, the man behind the claim, has filed a case at the Small Claims Court, seeking legal redress to recover the amount. Bethwel alleges that he was hired by Wetangula to provide two male German Shepherds. While he initially received Ksh 100,000 as partial payment, the remaining balance has been outstanding for an extended period.

In court documents, Bethwel states that despite his repeated attempts to recover the balance, Wetangula has refused to settle the debt. “I tried reaching out to Wetangula to recover the said balance, but he rudely and adamantly informed me that he would not pay me the remaining amount,” Bethwel recounts in the papers.

Bethwel contends that Wetangula’s refusal to honor their agreement has left him with no other recourse but to seek intervention from the court. He argues that the Speaker’s actions have caused him psychological distress and warns that without legal action, he may lose the entire outstanding amount.

“I waited for the payment of the remaining balance of Ksh 248,100, but all was in vain,” Bethwel asserts.

Bethwel further claims that, in addition to supplying the dogs, he was instructed to provide various dog-related supplies. These included four packs of dog food (Brave Active), dog training sleeves, leashes, choke chains, grooming brushes, a dog nail cutter, five liters of dog shampoo, and five liters of kennel disinfectant. The total value of these additional supplies is said to amount to Ksh 348,100.

Bethwel is now relying on the court to compel Wetangula to settle the outstanding debt and provide him with relief from the psychological burden he has endured.
