A 16-year-old girl who was arrested yesterday for being the main suspect in Nairobi Hospital Finance director Eric Maigo’s death has been detained for three weeks.
Senior Resident Magistrate Zainab Abdul allowed for the police to detain the minor who allegedly sat for her KCPE last year for three weeks for them to complete investigations.
It was their argument that if released from custody it will interfere with the investigations that are currently ongoing.
“The investigating officer is yet to record statements from the key witnesses, taking of finger prints, photo profiling, ascertain her previous criminal record and also the injuries inflicted on her while escaping from the scene of crime,” reads court documents.
Police told court that the girl was arrested on Tuesday around Olympic. Area within Kibera estate and booked at Kileleshwa police station.
The police believe that she was the one who orchestrated the violence which resulted to the death of Maigo.
Police have recovered the kitchen knives that were used to stab the doctor 25 times and fled from the scene.
It was their argument that if released from custody it will interfere with the investigations that are currently ongoing.
According to police, Maigo was found in his house lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on the chest, face and neck.
