Through lawyer Danstan Omari, the parents from several different Schools want the court to stop the ongoing form one selection.

The parents from Kitengela International School and Green Hill School say their children have been robbed of their true marks thereby causing them stress and anguish.

“There were widespread irregularities in the 2023 KCPE exams results and thus the integrity of the marking process has been called to question,” reads court papers.

One parent Pius Kiio says the court should also note the uproar by the teachers, students and members of the general public after the exams results were announced as there were alleged serious anomalies in the marking of the examinations.

The parents are dissatisfied with the way their children’s papers were marked in the rushed release of KCPE examinations which caused the children mental stress and torture.

The parents says that it was their legitimate expectation that the children would perform well given the schools previous record.

They do not understand why there is a marked variance between the marks scored by students at the school in the previous years and marks posted for the year 2023 in the same KCPE examinations as the said marks do not fall within a reasonable range.

“there is a marked variance between the marks scored by students in the Kitengela International school in the previous years and marks posted for the year 2023 in the respective years’ KCPE examinations as the said marks do not fall within a reasonable range,” reads court papers.

They want the court to stop the ongoing form one selection until their case is heard and determined.

They are apprehensive that the selection exercise is rushed and makes meaningless the 90-day review period provided under the rules and the exercise will therefore be an unreasonable action on the part of KNEC as the action wil make her child miss a secondary school of her choice should the review be in her favor.

Section of 2023 KCPE candidates challenge their results ask KNEC to relook their marks.
