The Late Jeff Mwathi’s uncle now say that his nephew who was found dead in DJ Fatxo’s home did not commit suicide as has been widely alleged.

While testifying in the inquest into his death, Stephen Muchoki told court that he is sure that Jeff could not have jumped from Fatxo’s apartment on 10th floor.

“I was told that Jeff died in Fatxo house but in my opinion, he could not have jumped from the window unless he was forced through,” Muchoki said.

While being cross-examined by by Jeff’s family lawyer Danstan Omari, Muchoki said from his own opinion he could have jumped from that small window.

“I was shown the video and, in my view, Jeff did not commit suicide, The Jeff I knew could not kill himself apart from being his uncle he was also a very close friend of mine,” he said.

Muchoki said that as a family they have lost a son who had a bright future ahead of him.

On his Jeff’s relationship with DJ Fatxo, Muchoki said he didn’t know that very well but one time Jeff told him that Fatxo had given him a shop to design for him and he was supposed to do it together with his nephew but they never did.

Omari also wanted to know that if DJ Fatxo’s house was secured when they went there but Muchoki said the crime scene had not secured.

In his evidence in chief, Muchoki told trial magistrate Zainab Abdul that he was very close to his nephew.

The hearing was adjourned to November 1 when his mother Hannah Mwathi is expected to take the stand.
