Advocate Martina Swiga subjected the Nairobi Hospital Board Secretary to intense questioning in a case where political analyst Herman Manyora is facing allegations of obtaining Sh516,000 through a purported tender scheme.

During cross-examination, the witness admitted that he had no evidence showing that Manyora personally demanded or solicited the money from the complainant, Josephine Luceno Kavulani.

The Board Secretary further told the court that he had not conducted investigations or established whether there was any criminal liability against Manyora in relation to the alleged solicitation.

The testimony placed the prosecution’s evidence under scrutiny, with questions emerging over the basis of the allegations and whether the claims were independently verified before the matter reached court.

Manyora is facing charges of cheating in connection with allegations that he falsely represented that he could assist Kavulani’s company, Sipho Construction Limited, secure the award of Tender No. TNH/ITB/016/24/ENGINEERING at Nairobi Hospital.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offence occurred between August 15 and October 30, 2024, within Nairobi County.

The prosecution alleges that Manyora obtained Sh516,000 from Kavulani after claiming he would help facilitate the award of the tender. The complainant is said to have parted with the money based on the alleged representation, which prosecutors argue was false.

However, during the hearing, the witness acknowledged that he had no direct evidence proving that Manyora made the alleged demand for money or engaged in the claimed solicitation.

Manyora has denied the allegations and is currently out on a Sh2 million bond as the case continues.
