A 62-year-old man has been arrested in Kajiado County after four children were found in his company in Isinya, triggering investigations into suspected child trafficking and defilement. The suspect, identified as Enock Peterson Mwangi, alias Mwamburi Mwandeme, was apprehended at Korompoi Trading Centre during an intelligence-led operation, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
The children, aged 17, 16, five and one year and four months, were reportedly found with the suspect in a bedsitter in Isinya. Detectives have since launched investigations to establish how the minors came under his care and the circumstances surrounding their presence.
Following the discovery, officers extended their search to a house linked to the suspect in Mashuuru Township, where they recovered a collection of items that investigators are examining as part of the inquiry. Among the items seized were several bags containing clothes for children of different ages, from newborns to teenagers, as well as garments for both boys and girls. Detectives also found baby shawls, blankets, a baby carrier and shoes in various sizes.
The search further yielded adult male clothing in sizes ranging from 34 to 54, reportedly arranged on hangers. Other items recovered included six mattresses, empty diaper carrier bags, duvets, pillows and assorted food supplies.
Authorities are investigating whether the recovered items could help explain the circumstances surrounding the children’s presence with the suspect. The DCI said the man remains in custody as detectives continue gathering evidence and working to establish the full details of the case.
Meanwhile, the four children have been placed under appropriate care and protection. They are expected to undergo medical examinations as investigators pursue leads in the case. The probe remains ongoing, with detectives seeking to establish the facts and determine whether charges will be brought against the suspect.
