Labour CS Alfred Mutua has agreed to support a child he sired with his estranged lover however, he insists that when the two year old turns 12 years old he must join public school which is free.

In the case, a Dubai based Kenyan woman has asked the court to order Mutua to pay Sh 6 M that she has used to take care of the child for the last two years.

Mutua has not disowned the minor saying it’s true that they had a relationship and got a son.

In a proposed agreement drawn by Lawyer Cecil Miller, Mutua has agreed to pay 100% of the child’s medical insurance and half of the schooling costs once the child begins nursery school.

However, he says once the child turns 12 he must join public school which is free

“On the issue of upkeep, our client is proposing to pay for a Kenyan government school,” reads the document

However, he has drawn a hard line on education beyond that age.

For secondary education, the CS is only willing to pay fees for a government school, firmly shutting the door on private or international options.

The CS also proposes to contribute one-third of housing costs “at Kenyan rates” and is opposed to any change of name on the child’s birth certificate, saying the child can make that decision independently upon reaching adulthood.

His legal team has further warned the estranged lover to cease all direct communication with him, noting that the matter is active in court and must be handled strictly through legal representatives.

“We hope that going forward you will advice your client to refrain from contacting our client directly,”reads the proposal
