Today the family of Kiambu County Deputy Governor Rosemary Kirika had to bury a banana plant in a grave that had been prepared against a court order.
The grave had been dug on a disputed piece of land in Gilgil, Nakuru County property allegedly belonging to the late Mzee Mburu Kinani.
On Tuesday the Nakuru Magistrate’s Court issued an injunction barring Deputy Governor Rosemary Kirika and her siblings from burying their late brother, Charles Vincent Waweru Mugethi, on the contested land.
In compliance with the court directive, officers from the Gilgil Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), intervened to prevent the burial from taking place on the disputed property.
In a symbolic gesture, the family chose to bury a banana plant in the grave as a traditional means of appeasing the spirit of the deceased.
