47 County assembly speakers have moved to court seeking to compel SRC to allocate them Sh 5 Million each for official cars and further Sh 200,000 monthly for maintenance of the cars.

In a petition filed in court, the speakers argue that the decision by SRC to deny them car benefits was unconstitutional.

The Speakers argue that the decision by the SRC to deny them these benefits is unconstitutional, citing it as a failure to recognize the critical role their offices play in governance.

It is their argument that SRC overlooked the importance of their office in ensuring effective legislative operations and maintaining impartiality in the discharge of their duties.

They say that adequate facilitation is essential for them to fulfill their constitutional mandate effectively.

They claim that the lack of sufficient resources has hindered their ability to perform their duties efficiently, adding that other government officials enjoy similar benefits.

They have urged the court to compel SRC to reconsider its position and allocate the requested funds, stating that this would enhance their mobility and operational capacity in serving their respective counties.
