He was alleged to have been found with 300 pieces of paper intended to resemble and pass as special paper used in making Euro currency notes.

Tepo denied the other charges, which included possession of ammunition without a certificate and possession of a firearm without a certificate.

Tepo was dramatically arrested last week by EACC detectives at his residence in Greenspark Estate. He allegedly shot at the officers who came to his home.

The agency is also investigating his wife, a quality assurance officer at NHIF, who is a person of interest in a multimillion-shilling scandal.

Both were arrested after officers found fake banknotes in the house, but only Tepo was presented in court.

He was released on a Sh100,000 cash bail plus one contact person.

The case will be mentioned on August 12 for pretrial.
