The doctors said that their primary concerns that they have raised include delay in promotions and also a severe shortage of medical staff.

Atella has accused the governor and the county government of not honoring the return-to-work formula and a court order which were issued in 2021.

“This has left out dedicated doctors in Limbo with prolonged probation periods and no promotions for consultations and doctors for over eight years” Atella said.

The doctors have also said that the shortage of medical personnel has affected them by demoralizing healthcare workforce.

According to the doctors despite pressing need for additional healthcare professionals, the county has only employed 30 doctors to serve over 650,000 residents.

Also present at the press briefing were KMPDU Nyanza branch secretary and Chair Dr Aggrey Orwenyo and Dr Steve Onyango the chair
