A plea agreement has been entered in the murder case of former Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo, with one of the accused persons agreeing to turn state witness.

The court was told that the witness will testify against the remaining accused persons when the trial begins on February 9 at 8:00 a.m.

The prosecution also disclosed that the state witness will be the first to take the stand, with five witnesses expected to testify on the opening day.

Trial judge Justice Diana Kavedza directed defence counsel Chacha Mwita to properly organise photographic evidence, including images allegedly showing bullet holes on vehicles, saying the move will help expedite the trial.

Justice Kavedza further urged Mwita to thoroughly review the evidence with his witness before the hearing to ensure the proceedings run smoothly.

The matter will be mentioned ahead of the hearing date for further directions.
