Two Nurses Who Poured Acid on Police Officers in Ngara Charged With Grievous Harm

Two nurses who poured acid three police officers who had gone to raid their clinic in Ngara were on Monday charged with causing grievous bodily harm to the cops.

Jonah Kipsiror Marori and Ephraim Mwaura Karumbi appeared before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi where they were charged with grievous harm and carrying out the business of a pharmacist in premises not registered by the pharmacy and poisons board.

Marori who is the one said to have splashed the acid was separately charged with causing grievous harm to a police constable Tom Mbuku on November 25, 2024 after splashing acid on him for storming his medical Centre after getting information that an unlawful abortion was probably being carried out in the clinic.

He was also charged with causing grievous harm to PC Joyce Otieno thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Further, Jonah Kipsiror Marori is accused of splashing acid to PC Moses Lelei occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The state Prosecutor Virginia Kariuki informed Court that chemical injuries, to one of the police has a first degree burn.

The Court heard that the police officers were on duty on the material time and that the incident has had police officers questioning their safety while on duty.

She said the seriousness of the case should not be sanitized by releasing the accused persons on lenient bond terms.

The two suspects denied the charges and Jonah Kipsiror Marori was released on Sh 600,000 bond while Ephraim Mwaura Karumbi was released on Sh 300,000 bond.
