The fight for the Sh2 billion estate left behind by former minister Simeon Nyachae has taken a new twist with both sides exposing the marital secrets of widows at the centre of the legal battle.

A US-based woman Margaret Chewya who sued the family for leaving her out of the inheritance plan has rubbished claims she was married by four other men insisting she was only married to Nyachae.

Chweya in replying affidavits before the High Court in Nairobi has instead claimed it is one of Nyachae’s other recognised widows Grace Wamuyu who was married to a Phillip Ndegwa former CBK Governor before she met Nyachae.

Wamuyu is the mother to Leon Nyachae who hired a private investigator who allegedly found four men who claimed to have been married Chweya at different points of her life.

In an affidavit filed by Lawyer Danstan Omari, Chewya has rubbished the claims that claims that she was married to the four men.

“I am Mrs. Simeon Nyachae the fourth wife. I am not claiming. Like Leon states. I got married traditionally to Hon. Simeon Nyachae before Leon Nyachae was born and that is also before Grace Wamuyu Leon’s mother was known to Hon Simeon Nyachae,” the affidavit reads.

“That I am giving this details because when I was already married to Nyachae Grace Wamuyu was Mrs Philip Ndegwa former Central Bank governor she bore him two sons Lee Kinyanjui and Maina who came with Grace into the marriage,” Chewya says.

“The respondents(Nyachae Kenyan family) have embraced Leon two Stepbrothers Lee Kinyanjui and Maina who were fathered by Philip Ndegwa former Central bank govenor. Leon’s mother was Mrs. Ndegwa before she became Mrs. Nyachae,” the affidavit reads.

She says that Nyachae paid her dowry to her late uncle in 1973 and all her three children who are senior to Leon are his children.

She has asked the court to conduct a DNA test on all the three kids to ascertain and confirm that.

“Leon knew that he was born and raised in a polygamous family. Therefore, if he had any questions with regards to his step siblings in any form or nature he needed to ask his father when he was alive,” she adds.

She has accused Leon of presenting in court a misleading and false Private investigator paper work to intentionally push an agenda.

She has accused her stepson Leon and his mother of falsifying the original will of Nyachae.

“Leon is playing greedy he has gone to an extend of offering money who will be willing to play his game. He has presented to this court fabricated documents. It is unbelievable!,” she claims.

Chewya further says that Leon and his mother alongside others have been his USA based family with the intent of taking away what was left for them.

She has further alleged that the allefed forged will has left out several properties that belonged to the late Nyachae.
