A blogger accused of repeatedly targeting Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda through social media posts has been charged before the Milimani Law Courts with three counts of cyber harassment.

The accused, John Vianney Onyango, also known as “Jay Vee Ke”, is alleged to have published defamatory content on his Facebook page concerning the distribution of relief food linked to Prof. Ojienda’s office.

According to the charge sheet, Onyango allegedly posted a video on April 14, 2026, accompanied by a caption claiming that an elderly woman had been reduced to tears over alleged irregularities involving relief food distributed through the senator’s office.

He is further accused of publishing another post on April 16, 2026, alleging that residents of Kisumu Central were going hungry due to political interference in the distribution of relief food.

In the third count, the prosecution alleges that on April 29, 2026, Onyango posted a video claiming that residents had called for investigations into allegedly contaminated maize flour distributed through Prof. Ojienda’s office and coordinated by a county official.

The State contends that the accused knew, or ought to have known, that the communications would negatively affect the reputation of the senator, contrary to Section 27(1)(b) as read together with Section 27(2) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.

Addressing the court, Prof. Ojienda maintained that the blogger had made a habit of publishing such content against him online.
“That is what he does. We are not dealing with one post; he will be here many times,” Ojienda told the court.
The senator further alleged that the accused personally created and published the posts and insisted that the claims made on the Facebook page were false.

The matter is scheduled to proceed before the Milimani Law Courts.
