The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two members of the Judiciary staff in Eldoret and Nakuru over separate allegations involving bribery and the delivery of court services.
In Eldoret, a Court Assistant attached to a Magistrate’s Court was arrested on September 8, 2026, following allegations that she solicited and received money to facilitate a court order.
The suspect, Linet Okungu, was allegedly found in possession of Ksh20,000, which investigators say formed part of a Ksh50,000 bribe reportedly sought to secure a stay order blocking the auction of a parcel of land in a case before the court.
The investigation was initiated after a court user lodged a complaint alleging that a magistrate had demanded the money in exchange for obtaining the order.
Okungu was taken to Eldoret Police Station for processing before being released on a Ksh20,000 cash bail, pending the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, in Nakuru, EACC arrested a court process server working at the Nakuru Law Courts Civil Registry over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe.
The suspect, Benard Ngeno, is accused of seeking money in exchange for securing a favourable mention date for a complainant’s case.
Ngeno was taken to the EACC’s South Rift Regional Office in Nakuru for processing and was subsequently released on a Ksh5,000 cash bail as investigations continue.
The commission said the arrests form part of its efforts to combat bribery and corruption at public service delivery points and promote accountability in the provision of government services.
The allegations against both suspects remain subject to investigation, and an arrest does not amount to a finding of guilt.
