A wanted man suspected of being behind a string of robberies in Thika West has been arrested after detectives linked him to an abduction and gang rape case before the Thika Law Courts.
Crispus Mwangi Gitambi was arrested inside his rented house in Athena area following an intelligence-led operation by detectives from DCI Thika West. Gitambi was subsequently placed in an identification parade, where he was positively identified by witnesses in the ongoing abduction and gang rape case.
The suspect was also identified in connection with four separate robbery cases under investigation, including a series of incidents in which victims had their phones snatched. His arrest yielded another lead in the investigations after detectives recovered a black TVS motorcycle, registration number KMGS 004N, which is suspected to have been stolen and allegedly used during some of the phone-snatching incidents.
Investigators are now working to establish the extent of Gitambi’s alleged involvement in the different offences and whether he was operating with accomplices.
The detectives are expected to complete their investigations before taking the suspect to court to face the charges that may arise from the probe.
