Detectives in Kirinyaga East have nabbed a man impersonating a police officer, recovering a stash of official gear including uniforms and a replica firearm.
The suspect, Newton Wachira Waweru, was arrested following a tip-off and later led detectives to his residence in Makongeni, Thika.
Several items were recovered including Two police smoke jackets, Two jungle green trousers, a green prison lanyard, Desert military boots, a replica firearm and Other assorted government-issue items
Waweru is currently in custody as detectives intensify investigations to uncover the full extent of his activities. Authorities are probing whether he used the gear to commit crimes or impersonate law enforcement officers in multiple locations.
He is set to be arraigned in court once processing is complete.
