A man has been charged at the Moyale Magistrates’ Court with possessing narcotic drugs and keeping a pistol magazine and holster without a firearm certificate.
Mohamed Amin appeared before Resident Magistrate Kombe and pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
The court heard that Amin and another man, Ahmed Abdulahi, were arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Moyale town, Marsabit County, on October 7, 2026. The two were travelling in a white Toyota Prado, registration number KAR 555M, when they were intercepted by detectives. Investigations established that Abdulahi, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not connected to any offence and was subsequently released.
Amin, identified as the vehicle’s owner, was allegedly found with narcotic drugs, an empty pistol magazine and a pistol holster without the required firearm certificate.
During investigations, Amin reportedly told authorities that he had acquired the vehicle in Ethiopia through a hire purchase arrangement and was paying for it in monthly instalments.
Following his plea, the court released him on a bond of KSh150,000 with one surety of a similar amount. Alternatively, he was granted a cash bail option of KSh50,000, subject to providing two contact persons.
The case will be mentioned on November 3, 2026, for pre-trial directions and the scheduling of a hearing date.
