Children’s magistrate court magistrate Dr Joyce Macharia sentenced him to serve ten years in jail and also pay a compensation of Sh 1 million to each of three victims.

The court further ruled that upon completion of his jail term, Jan will be deported back to |\ the Netherlands.

Jan was convicted in 10 count of charge by Milimani law court for child abuse and absence video last month

He was arrested in December 2023 at JKIA as he attempted to flee the country.

During the trial, digital forensic experts presented evidence of explicit WhatsApp conversations between the accused and a 17-year-old boy, where he encouraged the minor to engage in sexual activities.

The prosecution also presented graphic images and videos recovered from the accused’s phone, depicting child sexual abuse.

While testifying in his defense, Jan denied wrongdoing, arguing that the Kenyan legal age for sexual consent was unreasonably high. He further attempted to justify his actions using biblical references, a move that was heavily criticized by the prosecution and the presiding judge.
