Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko got relief on Wednesday after a Nairobi court acquitted him in the Sh 357 Million corruption case alongside16 others.
Anti-corruption magistrate Eunice Nyutu ruled that there was no sufficient evidence produced in court to put sustain the charges against the accused.
“The evidence is inadequate to sustain the charges leveled against the accused persons ,”court ruled
Thea court ruled that no evidence was adduced to show that Sonko commited the alleged offences .
Nyutu further laid blame on the prosecution for bungling the case saying they only called six witnesses to testify when they initially indicated they had 38 witnesses.
Sonko and his co- accused were charged with several counts of fraud including conspiracy to corruptly embezzle Sh 357 million from the county.
They were charged with money laundering charges and acquisition of proceeds of crime
