The prosecution told court that they are investigating the driver on cases of murder contrary to section 317 of the Penal Code, conspiracy to commit a felony and negligent act causing harm.

The court heard that Guyo was arrested on Valentine’s Day this year on suspicion of being behind the explosion.

He is alleged to have gone missing immediately after the gas explosion and resurfaced on February 13 seeking an anticipatory bail from the high court.

The state told court that the information that has been received from the driver and Kenya Revenue Authority point to an expanded investigation spanning to other parts of the country and across the borders to the Republic of Tanzania in tracing the source of the disaster causing LPG as evident from information obtained from the Kenya revenue Authority LPG clearance made at the Oloitokitok border point on the 25th January, 2024 about five days to the tragedy.

It’s is alleged that that Guyo produced an offloading receipt purporting to have offloaded gas at TAYO GAS LIMITED on January 28 2024, and the plant does not appear on the licensed facility register as received from EPRA.

According to the state, Guyo has very important information and leads on other suspects who are yet to be identified that investigators cannot ignore, however, his release at the moment will jeopardize investigations as he is likely to interfere with investigations either directly or indirectly.

The state also wants to establish how the purported truck found its way to the scene of the tragedy.

Court allowed to the police to detain Guyo and the case will be mentioned on February 28.
