Kenyan fugitive Kevin Kangethe will now be held in prison and not a police station after he escaped from cells last week while awaiting extradition to the US.
Kangethe is wanted in the US for the murder of his girlfriend where it’s alleged he fled to Kenya after killing her.
He escaped from Muthaiga police station and was arraigned in court on Wednesday after being rearrested by police.
Milimani chief magistrate Lucas Onyina has ruled that Kangethe, should be remanded at Nairobi remand prison.
Onyina noted that the court was never made aware of how Kangethe managed to escape from police cells.
