Jackson Kihara Gachucha alleged nephew to former Deputy President who is currently serving a 20 year jail term in Manyani Maximum Prison over the offense of robbery with violence, has accused his uncle of orchestrating a criminal case against him in an alleged bid to take control of the family estate.
Kihara made the explosive claims before High Court Judge Alexander Muteti as he sought to overturn a 20-year prison sentence imposed on him after his 2019 conviction for robbery with violence.
Appearing before the High Court, Kihara argued that the trial court failed to consider the four years he had already spent in remand custody before he was sentenced.
“The four years I spent in remand were not factored into my sentence and that would have significantly reduced my jail term,” Kihara told the court.
In a dramatic turn during the proceedings, Jackson Kihara alleged that the criminal charges against him were politically and financially motivated, claiming he had been framed by his uncle to pave the way for the alleged illegal takeover of his late father’s vast estate.
“I was framed to give way for the illegal takeover of my late father’s estate,” he claimed before the court.
Kihara also pleaded with the court to allow him temporary access to an undisclosed location where he said he had stored sensitive family documents that could help support his struggling family financially.
“My family has suffered since I was imprisoned and the documents could help them earn a living,” he said.
Justice Muteti allowed the request and directed prison officers to escort Kihara to the location so that he could retrieve and hand over the documents to his family.
The High Court is expected to deliver its ruling on Kihara’s appeal petition on June 17, 2026.
