A High Court judge has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to personally appear in court and explain the whereabouts of a missing blogger linked to recent online political commentary.
“I have heard you and read the pleadings,” the judge stated during the session. “The DCI officers visited his residence and were the only ones present when he disappeared. The caretaker has not sworn an affidavit. The DCI conducted the search, and now this person is missing.”
The judge further noted that a clear explanation is needed regarding the circumstances under which the second applicant vanished following the DCI’s involvement.
“I direct the DCI to appear in court on Thursday to explain where the second applicant is. I do not need the Inspector General here,” the judge ruled.
The directive comes amid growing concerns over enforced disappearances and the conduct of investigative agencies during politically charged operations.
