Kennedy Kalombotole, the main suspect in the shocking double murder case at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts as disturbing new details emerged about the deaths of two fellow patients.

His lawyer, Zephaniah Achapa, pleaded with the court to consider his client’s deteriorating health and dire social background.

“Give My Client Justice,” Kennedy Kalombotole’s Lawyer Pleads in Court Over Ailing Suspect

Lawyer Zephaniah Achapa has urged the Kibera Law Courts to grant justice to his client, Kennedy Kalombotole, citing his worsening health condition and need for urgent medical care.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Daisy Mutai, Achapa stated that Kalombotole, who suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic illnesses, should not be held in police custody but instead be returned to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for specialized treatment.

He further requested that his client remain under police custody at KNH pending further investigations, arguing that the hospital environment is better suited to manage his condition.

Achapa also told the court that Kalombotole’s case is deeply rooted in socio-economic hardship, including the lack of identification documents and the absence of parental care challenges he has faced both on and off the streets.

Magistrate Mutai, however, ruled that the accused will remain in custody at Kilimani Police Station, where he is currently receiving medical attention, until further notice.

The court directed that comprehensive medical reports be filed from both Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi Women’s Hospital, where Kalombotole has previously been treated. These reports will guide the court in determining the most appropriate course of action.

The case will be mentioned on 24th July 2025.
