A man who lied to police that his wife had been kidnapped alongside his two children when in fact she was with her husband in Narok has pleaded guilty to giving false information to the police.

Brian Luseka Andole confessed before Magistrate Benmak Ekhubi that on November 9 at Kitusuru Police Post in Nairobi falsely informed PC Joseph Ledama that his wife Mercylin Awour had gone missing.

Andole pleaded guilty to the offense and the file was allocated a later date for facts before he is convicted and sentenced.

According to the DCI, on November 9, 2024, Andore made a report of Kidnapping at Kitsuru Police Station saying that his wife, Mercy Awuor had been kidnapped by unknown people who had promised her job opportunity but were instead demanding a ransom of Sh 150,000.

He told police that a certain mobile phone number was used to demand the ransom, which later turned out to be false.

The DCI Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and Operations teams started investigations in a bid to rescue the wife, and on November 13, 2024, they arrested one suspect namely Chiranzi Tsuma Mbaru at Gitaru area.

Andore had reported that Chiranzi’s mobile phone number was used to demand the ransom, which later turned out to be false.

However, on November 16, 2024, the team proceeded to Oldonyo Orok, Narok South where the victim’s number was lastly located, and found her at her husband’s house.

She was with he husband George Odada together with her two children and that’s when police established that there was no kidnap but rather love affairs, love triangle and family issues.

The prosecution now argues that the said report ought not to have been done if the true state of facts were known to the police.
