Nyamira County MCA’s have threatened to table a motion to impeach Governor Amos Nyaribo for abuse of power following recent sacking of Health CEC Dr. Timothy Ombati.

Nyaribo fired Ombati last week over what he termed was being ‘embarrassed’ because drugs consignment were not dispatched to all county hospitals as he had promised the public.

28 out of the 34 MCA’s have all approved the impeachment saying they will oust the county boss from office.

The Deputy Majority Leader and Township Ward MCA Duke Masira said they want Nyaribo to resign or be impeached over the unfair dismissal of the CEC.

Masira said that MCAs have lost confidence in Nyaribo because he has been misusing his Powers

“We want the Senate to establish whether Nyaribo will continue being Nyamira county governor. He claimed that only boxes were delivered instead of drugs, we want him to be investigated,” Masira said.

Ombati has since moved to court to challenge his dismissal from work saying it was malicious and in bad faith.

He wants the court to order the governor to reinstate him and further suspend the letter sacking him.

Lawyer DAnstan Omari acting for Ombati has told court that the reason given by Nyaribo to sack Ombati was because of embarrassment which is not in law.
