According to the charge sheet, the accused persons, on or around April 19, 2024, at the University of Nairobi Council chambers, allegedly abused their authority by passing a resolution that benefited Daniel Brian Ouma.

The resolution reportedly reappointed Ouma as acting Chief Operations Officer and nullified a prior letter issued by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama, which had revoked Ouma’s appointment.

Separately, Daniel Brian Ouma Okeyo faces charges of unlawful acquisition of public funds under Sections 45 and 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003.

The prosecution claims that between March 25, 2015, and May 8, 2025, Ouma unlawfully received a total of Ksh 32,459,406.15 in salary from the University of Nairobi.

He allegedly held various positions, including Deputy Director (Fundraising, Donor Relations, and Partnerships), Director of Advancement, and Acting Chief Operations Officer, positions the prosecution claims he did not meet qualifications required for the roles.

All accused individuals are yet to formally respond to the charges, as their legal teams have mounted strong objections to the prosecution’s case.
