Police have arrested two parents in Mt. Elgon, Bungoma County, following the death of their two-year-old daughter, who was reportedly brought to hospital with multiple injuries.
The couple was taken into custody after presenting the toddler at Mt. Elgon Sub-County Hospital at approximately 6pm on November 5, 2026. However, medical personnel pronounced the child dead upon arrival.
A preliminary police assessment revealed that the minor had sustained several injuries on different parts of her body, prompting suspicions that she had been physically assaulted before her death.
Detectives subsequently arrested both parents as investigations got underway to establish how the child sustained the injuries and the events leading to her death. The suspects remain in police custody pending their arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, the child’s body was moved to Kimilili Delight Funeral Home mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
In a separate incident in Nairobi, police arrested a security guard following the death of a 28-year-old man at a construction site along Nyakinyua Road in Riruta, Dagoretti.
The deceased, identified as Idris Shisha Mohamed, was allegedly among three men who entered the site at approximately 12:35am on November 6, 2026, in an alleged attempt to steal. Police reports indicate that the site’s clerk informed officers that the men were confronted by a security guard, who managed to catch one of them.
The guard reportedly told investigators that Mohamed struck a wall and fell while trying to flee. However, officers who responded to the scene alongside DCI detectives from Dagoretti discovered Mohamed’s body on the floor bearing several visible injuries.
Investigators noted injuries around his mouth, bruises on his right hand and marks that appeared consistent with him having been restrained using a rope. There were also indications that he may have been assaulted with a blunt object.
The security guard was subsequently arrested and detained as detectives launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death. Crime Scene Investigation officers from Dagoretti also visited the construction site to process and document evidence that could assist in establishing what happened.
Police are continuing with investigations into both incidents.
