Detectives in Nanyuki have arrested three men suspected of involvement in a motor vehicle theft syndicate and recovered a Toyota Probox reported stolen earlier this week.
The suspects, identified as John Nderitu alias Charles Muriuki, Peter Machoka Nyangau and Gedion Mutugi, were arrested at Naiberi Centre while allegedly transporting the vehicle, registration number KBP 492F, towards Uganda.
According to detectives, the vehicle was stolen in Nanyuki on the night of November 3–4, 2026, amid a series of reported motor vehicle thefts in the area and its surroundings.
The arrests followed investigations launched to track down those behind the thefts, with detectives eventually intercepting the suspects while they were driving the recovered vehicle.
The three are currently in police custody and are expected to be presented before the Nanyuki Law Courts to face charges of stealing a motor vehicle, contrary to Section 278A of the Penal Code.
Detectives have since intensified investigations to establish the wider network behind the alleged theft syndicate and apprehend other suspected accomplices.
