Businessman Phillip Aroko, a key suspect in the brutal murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were, told the court that he has fully cooperated with investigators during his 14-day detention.

Appearing before Justice Diana Kavedza, Aroko stated that even prior to the revocation of his bond terms a week ago, he had voluntarily reported to Kileleshwa Police Station, demonstrating his willingness to comply with the legal process.

“Your honour, I also intend to be compliant, I still will be compliant to the Investigations.” Said Aroko.

He assured the court that he poses no flight risk and expressed a strong desire for fairness and justice in the case.

“I would wish the court and the prosecution to make a fair judgement to me, and I also wish to be vindicated of this.” Pleaded Aroko.

Aroko also asked the court not to restrict him from visiting his home county, though he affirmed that he would respect any orders issued.

He told the Court that he is a public figure and that he has a vision to pursue but the interest of justice for the late MP and for himself, and that he would not hesitate to compromise his vision for a while and pave the way for the investigations.
