Two advocates are seeking to remove Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi from the roll of senior Counsel due to his persistent attacks against Judicial officers specifically the Supreme Court judges.

Lawyers Paul Kiragu and John Njomo have written to LSK specifically the committee on Senior Counsel seeking for him to be removed from the rill of senior counsels.

They argue that Senior Counsel is a prestigious title from exceptional legal expertise, significant contributions to the Kenyan legal system, many years of practice, and exemplary professional conduct.

“The basic claim here, however, is that Ahmednasir has disentitled himself of the rank and dignity of Senior Counsel by his professional misconduct, contempt of court, and unbecoming conduct,” the letter reads

According to them, the title of Senior Counsel would be discredited if any and every person were allowed to attain or hold the title despite their conduct adding that There are not one but three Supreme Court findings about Ahmednasir’s unacceptable acts for his persistent flurry of false invective impugning the integrity of the courts.

“This petition seeks, therefore, to hold Ahmednasir accountable for his unacceptable conduct, which has fallen far short of the standards expected of Senior Counsel and could seriously impact public confidence in the legal profession,” they argue.

They claim that Ahmednasir has become a master of fickle attacks on the judiciary without providing evidence of any misdoings by the judiciary and its officers.

They have also accused him of weaponizing X (formerly Twitter) as a tool for maligning judges, Ahmednasir has become a master of reckless claims that undermine the standing of the legal profession. The inappropriate use of social media to undermine the standing and dignity of the legal profession, however, is an affront to administration of justice.

“The Senior Counsel has attacked judges and judiciary during the pendency of court proceedings. He routinely seeks the recusal of judges he appears before—especially when he loses a case. Without heeding to the courts’ admonishment or showing remorse, the Senior Counsel has been obdurate in his attacks,” the letter reads.

The two want the committee to find that under rule 7, Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC has disentitled himself of the rank and dignity of Senior Counsel by his established and repetitive conduct.

“Upon making this finding the removal of Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC from the Roll of Senior Counsel shall follow. This decision is necessary to restore public confidence in the rank and dignity of Senior Counsel. The rank would lose meaning if Ahmednasir could remain a Senior Counsel despite his distinct lack of manners,” they submitted.
