Sarah Wairimu was on Wednesday charged with the murder of her late Dutch husband Tob Cohen whose body was found in a septic tank inside their home in Kitusuru.
This is the second time Sarah is facing charges, two years after her acquittal. The DPP recommended reopening the case, citing the discovery of new evidence.
Sarah denied the charge before Kibera high court judge Diana Kavedza after the court ruled that she did not need to undergo another mental assesstent.
She was arraigned in court last week for plea taking but the prosecution wanted her to undergo a mental exam which the defense opposed saying she had already been taken through one when she charged in 2019.
In her ruling, Justice Kavedza said the court would rely on the mental assessment report conducted in 2019.
After taking plea, the prosecution made an application saying Sarah should be denied bail saying she is a flight risk and might flee from the court’s jurisdiction.
Her lawyers asked court to give them time to file an affidavit to challenge the prosecution’s request to deny her bond.
The court directed for Sarah be detained at Langata women prison pending ruling on the bail.
