A Nairobi court on Thursday deferred its decision on whether to charge businessman Jimi Wanjigi to next week, allowing the prosecution more time to review a High Court order related to the case.

Wanjigi was brought before the court for allegedly being in possession of firearms without a valid license. However, he had earlier obtained a High Court order against the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the prosecution, blocking any charges he termed as malicious.

Wanjigi’s legal team, led by Willis Otieno, argued that delaying the ruling would not prejudice the court. They emphasized that it was important to wait for the High Court to rule on the petition filed by Wanjigi challenging the charges.

The court agreed to adjourn the matter to allow the prosecution time to thoroughly review the High Court’s proceedings and order related to Wanjigi’s case.

The case will be mentioned again on September 19, when the court is expected to provide further directions.
