A father has rushed to court and successfully obtained a temporary injunction stopping his daughter’s planned wedding, setting the stage for an urgent family showdown just a day before the ceremony.

In the case filed at the Milimani Commercial Magistrates Court, Francis Julius Ogallo told the court that the wedding set for Saturday, December 6 was proceeding without his involvement or consent, prompting him to seek the court’s protection.

The matter was placed before Principal Magistrate G.M. Gitonga on Friday morning, where the court certified the application as urgent and noted that the dispute was a family matter best handled through structured negotiations or mediation.

The magistrate directed that the respondent, identified as Gladys Ongayo Ogallo, be served in person and ordered all parties to appear before the court at 3pm for directions.

In the meantime, the court issued a temporary injunction restraining the respondent, her agents, servants, representatives, or any other person acting on her behalf from conducting, facilitating, or participating in the planned wedding ceremony pending the afternoon mention for further directions .

The order was also to be served upon the OCS of the nearest police station for enforcement, with the court attaching a penal notice warning that any disobedience would attract legal consequences.

The abrupt halt now places the fate of the Saturday wedding in uncertainty as the family returns to court later in the day for a decisive session that could either clear the way for the ceremony or suspend it further.
