Harveen Gadhoke has been appointed as the new administrator of Mumias Sugar Company following the expiry of the term of his predecessor.
Gadhoke will take over from Kereto Marima whose term expired in April this year and will serve for the next one year.
Justice Josephine Mong’are made the appointment after advocate Jackeline Kimeto who is seeking Sh 76 M from the sugar mill told court that Kereto’s term had expired.
Kimeto is one of the creditors who is seeking to recover their debts from the now struggling miller and have been in court for years fighting to revive it in bid to get their money.
In her submissions to court, Kimeto said that it was necessary for the court to appoint a new administrator in order to secure the assets of the company.
Kereto was appointed last year by Justice Alfred Mabeya who has since recused himself from the matter.
While appointing Gadhoke as the new administrator, Judge Mong’are also directed IG Japhet Koome to give him armed security as he takes over the administration of Mumias Sugar.
In her application, Kimeto wants the court to order the former administrator to hand over all documents, including books of accounts, ledgers, leases, titles deeds, logbooks to the new administrator.
