Philip Aroko presented himself at the DCI offices in Gigiri following summons related to the murder of Kasipul MP, Hon. Were. Speaking to the media outside the police station, Aroko said he learned of the summons through posts on the official DCI account on X (formerly Twitter).
He dismissed the summons as politically motivated, asserting that he is ready to fight what he termed a political battle to the very end.
“There is deep bitterness in my constituency,” Aroko stated. “People are crying; lives have been lost and many have been maimed.”
Aroko revealed that he had visited the DCI headquarters more than seven times and written multiple letters reporting atrocities committed in Kasipul, but claims no action was ever taken.
While he declined to comment directly on the murder of Hon. Were, citing the ongoing investigation, Aroko emphasized that the political landscape in Homa Bay County is shifting from violence to more civil and structured engagement.
He further alleged that the reason for his summons was to prevent him from attending Hon. Were’s funeral, suggesting that his political rivals fear his presence at the event.
