In today’s court news, three individuals George Orwa, Peterson Onyango Oluoch, and Francis Omondi, were arraigned before the Mombasa Magistrate’s Court today in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation.
Appearing under a miscellaneous application, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) requested the court to allow a 14-day detention period as investigations continue. The suspects are being probed for alleged offences including obtaining money by false pretences, theft, and deception.
According to preliminary reports, the three are accused of defrauding a victim of Ksh 160,000 by promising a legitimate transaction but later returning an envelope filled with papers instead of money.
The court granted the DCI’s request, allowing the suspects to be held in custody for 14 days to facilitate further investigations. The case is scheduled for mention on May 21, 2025.
