A Nairobi court has postponed delivery of judgment in the robbery with violence case linked to the brutal killing of former Kabete MP George Muchai in 2015.
The case involving Erick Muyera, Raphael Kimani, Mustapha Kimani, Stephen Astiva, Jane Wanjiru, Margaret Njeri and Simon Wambugu came up before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina for judgment after the seven closed their defence in October 2025.
However, the magistrate said he was not ready to deliver the ruling, noting that although he had intended to conclude the matter before Christmas, a heavy workload had made it impossible to finalize the judgment. The case was consequently adjourned to December 30, 2025.
The seven suspects are accused of violently robbing and murdering former MP George Muchai, his two bodyguards and a driver. In 2023, the court ruled that they had a case to answer.
In a brief ruling then, trial magistrate Roseline Oganyo stated that after analysing evidence from 36 prosecution witnesses, the court was satisfied that a prima facie case had been established against all the accused persons.
The suspects also face charges of murdering Muchai, his bodyguards Samuel Kalikia and Samuel Matanta, and driver Stephen Wambugu on the night of February 6 and 7, 2015, along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.
Additionally, they are accused of robbing Michael Gituto of a motor vehicle and other personal items valued at Sh416,000.
